Well, well, well

As you probably know, Malvern is famous for its water. You might not know that, at the beginning of May, many of the springs,  spouts and wells in the area are 'dressed'.

Well dressing apparently goes back to pagan times - a way of thanking the spirits for the gift of water.  Well dressing in Malvern goes back to ..... (well, not very long actually) but it has established itself as a major event in the local calendar.

The photos show just three of the thirty or so wells that were dressed.  For more information there is an excellent local website dedicated to  Malvern's water sources:  Malvern spa website

Since I last updated this website (or should I say 'since my last post'?) quite a lot has happened.

We have moved into a new house which is quite near the centre of Malvern but still within easy reach of the hills (a 7 minute walk).
The house has a small back garden in which we hope to grow some vegetables. In fact we have dug up the lawn is order to grow them! (Well, I always liked 'The Good Life'!)

We also hired a van and drove to France to pick up all my toys. These included my paraglider and I have already been for a short flight on the Malvern Hills.

I have started my woodworking course.  The plan is to make a small oak table. We went to visit a local man to buy the necessary timber and I was horrified to find that he was selling slices of tree! (I was expecting neat planks.) The photo shows my timber. Come back to see if I manage to turn it into a table!..............................
